Drug laws, gas taxes, and apprenticeship programs were all discussed at the most recent Deer Park Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Representative Jacquelin Maycumber presented an update on the legislative session, along with her positions and actions.
Large lots of land were annexed into the city with a split decision to bypass the city’s routine ordinance procedures. Lakeside Development, a land development, is slated to build 111 homes. The City Council also approved a contract with Retail Strategies to bring more national chains to Deer Park.

Council approved accepting Covid funds for use in water upgrades. The City Hall Task Force provided a tour and outlined the next steps. Discussion about improving the visual appearance of the city arose throughout the meeting.

The Deer Park Market, previously called First Saturday Market, came back in June with new management and exciting new features. There are going to be three more markets for you to enjoy this outdoor event before the season ends.
