The newly appointed Deer Park Chamber of Commerce 2024 Board of Directors, led by President Kelsie Carlson, is preparing to tackle a major project: revitalizing the city’s downtown area. The Chamber, in partnership with Retail Strategies, has launched a survey to gather community input on the project, which is part of a three-year, $180,000 contract with the City of Deer Park.

2023 has been a very busy year for our Chamber. We’ve had a record number of ribbon cuttings, spectacular community events, and have made updates to our bylaws to help our Chamber thrive for the years to come. One of our main goals was to start bringing different organizations together and that’s a goal I believe we accomplished as evident in our final luncheon of the year.

Drug laws, gas taxes, and apprenticeship programs were all discussed at the most recent Deer Park Chamber of Commerce luncheon. Representative Jacquelin Maycumber presented an update on the legislative session, along with her positions and actions.
Large lots of land were annexed into the city with a split decision to bypass the city’s routine ordinance procedures. Lakeside Development, a land development, is slated to build 111 homes. The City Council also approved a contract with Retail Strategies to bring more national chains to Deer Park.
