With a 4-0 victory over Cascade on Saturday, the Deer Park High School soccer team punched its ticket to the 1A state tournament for the fifth time in the past eight seasons. The Stags (15-2-1 overall) will play a first-round match against Bear Creek (16-1-2) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Union Stadium in Mead.
The Lakeside Eagles shocked the Deer Park Stags 1-0 on Tuesday, scoring a last-minute goal to claim the Northeast A League high school soccer championship and earn an automatic bid to the state tournament. Deer Park has another chance to make the 1A state bracket — a win over Cascade High School on Saturday would guarantee the Stags a spot in the 16-team field.
The Colville Crimson Hawks outlasted the Deer Park Stags 28-21 on Friday in a hard-fought meeting between Northeast A League high school football foes.
In front of the home crowd, Deer Park went ahead 14-13 late in the third quarter, however Colville scored touchdowns on their next two drives to open the fourth quarter. The Stags’ offense answered, but was ultimately unable to complete the frantic comeback.
The Riverside High School football team defeated rival Deer Park 24-6 on Friday — earning the right to ring the Battle of the Horns bell for the third straight season.
After a Deer Park punt, Riverside’s offense got uncorked with a pair of lengthy plays by junior wide receiver Braxton Welch — a 21-yard catch from junior quarterback Jake Gaffaney, then an 18-yard run on a reverse. But the Stags’ defense stood strong, forcing the Rams into a 46-yard field goal, which Gaffaney converted with 5:06 left in the first quarter.
The Deer Park High School football team cruised to a 41-0 triumph over Medical Lake on Friday, ending a three-game losing streak for the Stags. With the victory, Deer Park improves to 3-3 overall on the season and 1-2 against fellow Northeast A League opponents.
For a couple of rain filled days, Deer Park and Riverside athletes were a beacon of sunshine at the 2022 State Championships. Records were broken, championships were won and each athlete represented our communities with grit and determination.
Deer Park High School (DPHS) has teamed up with Deer Park Physical Therapy (DPPT) in providing Athletic Training services, in conjunction with the DPHS Coaching Staff, to all student athletes.
There will be a silent auction to support The Deer Park High School Archery Team to raise money for the National Archery In The Schools Program (NASP) 3D Nationals this April. This will be the first time the whole team has qualified for Nationals. Several individuals on the team will also be competing in the tournament.
The Deer Park Archery Boosters will be hosting the fundraiser between noon to 6pm at Stylz Salon (located at 855 S Main Street in Deer Park) on Saturday, April 16th. The money will go toward equipment and trip expenses for the students. The auction is an open event, and you do not need a ticket to get in.
Deer Park High School 2021 graduate Dawson Youngblood finishes his senior year with several impressive accomplishments, including being on his way to play basketball for the Community Colleges of Spokane.
