Deer Park Kicks Off Summer With Packed Weekend

Deer Park area residents can look forward to a busy weekend filled with community events, fundraisers, and live entertainment starting this Friday. Activities ranging from a downtown block party to a charity golf tournament offer something for every member of the family. The multi-day lineup includes local businesses, musicians, and charitable organizations working together to welcome the summer season.

Summer is arriving in full force this weekend with a vibrant lineup of community gatherings, live music, and charitable fundraisers designed to bring residents together. Starting Friday, June 12th, the town will transform into a hub of activity with events spanning across downtown Main Street, local recreation spots, and nearby fairgrounds. The weekend festivities are the work of local individuals & organizations, including the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, the Green House, and several non-profit organizations, aiming to boost community spirit and support local causes. Attendees can expect everything from late-night shopping deals to outdoor concerts, making it easy to participate by simply showing up with lawn chairs and a desire to connect with neighbors.

Friday

The excitement begins on Friday morning with a massive book sale hosted by the GreenHouse Food Bank and Resource Center. Located at Reilly Family Storage on East Crawford Street, this two-day sale opens at 9am on Friday and continues through Saturday afternoon. All proceeds from the literary event will directly benefit the food bank’s community programs. Later on Friday evening, the focus shifts to downtown for the highly anticipated Friday Night on Main event. Running from 6pm to 9pm, this summer kickoff features local vendors, live music, food trucks, and a beer garden. Local shops plan to extend their business hours to offer exclusive promotions, creating a lively block party atmosphere for the entire family. This gathering represents the first of three scheduled Friday night events planned for the summer season.

Saturday

Saturday keeps the momentum going with activities tailored for both sports enthusiasts and music lovers. Golfers can head to the Deer Park Golf Club for the fourth annual Not Your Grandpa’s Golf Tournament. Check-in begins at 1:30pm with a tee-off time at 3pm. This unique nine-hole tournament includes cart rentals, interactive course challenges, a dinner following play, and prizes for the most creatively dressed participants. Funds raised from the tournament will support the Hometown Christmas celebration and other Chamber initiatives.

As the afternoon winds down, the Deer Park Summer Concert Series launches its season at Mix Park with a patriotic theme celebrating America. The evening features an opening performance by The Producers followed by the Masterclass Big Band. In addition to free music, families can enjoy a snack shack, a beer garden hosted by the Deer Park Eagles, children’s crafts, and access to the new splash pad.

Sunday

The weekend concludes on Sunday, June 14th, with a trip to the Clayton Community Fairgrounds for the weekly Clayton Farmers Market. Operating from 11am to 4pm, the market provides an opportunity for residents to browse local produce, handcrafted goods, and regional artisan products. This recurring Sunday event offers a relaxed environment to wind down after a packed weekend while continuing to support local agricultural producers and creators.
