The Summer Meal Program, also known as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), was created to help ensure children have nutritious meals when school is out of session. The Summer Meals Program provides free meals and snacks to people ages 1-18. The SFSP is a federally-funded, state-administered program. Different organizations like Deer Park, Riverside, and Mary Walker School Districts, and Spokane County Library District sponsor meals in our area. Below is a list of locations where kids can receive free food. Have been recently updated as of July 26 2021.
The Clayton Pro West Rodeo 2021 returned Friday night, drawing a large crowd of rodeo fans eager to watch the competition between man and beast. Opening the Settlers Day event was the Tough Enough Drill Team performing a flag ceremony of exceptional equestrian ability, generating booming cheers for the Red, White, and Blue.
During the first event in June 2021, Faith Lutheran Church in partnership with 2nd Harvest was able to serve 320 families with 17,000 pounds of food. These generous organizations are not done helping our community this summer and have scheduled two more events one this week in July, and the other in August.
