Many birds live in the United States of America (USA), and we chose the bald eagle to be the national bird. I know it is not the right bird. Many other birds would be better than the bald eagle, like a different bird of prey, or a bird rejected before, maybe even a bird that is small and famous. The bald eagle is the wrong choice for our great land.

It has been two years since the Covid lockdowns and since Governor Jay Inslee was granted emergency powers. This is much too long for this much power to be given to one man. In the beginning there was much ignorance and little knowledge about Covid. The argument was made that decisions needed to be made quickly. That may have seemed to make sense then, but not now.

Chickens. Ever since I sought a seat of service on our City Council in 2019 I have been approached by neighbors new and old who have asked for their freedom back.

A few Christmases back, my family discovered that nobody liked shopping for a live tree. It was a cold, wet night and we had just come back home from finally picking out the “perfect” tree. I was impatient, my husband was grumpy, my son was nearly in tears.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for your tremendous support during our recent Levy election.

Most people in Deer Park want a local police force but their biggest concern is cost. I agree. I don’t want to raise taxes or break the bank for a local department. And although many people say there have been studies done on the cost of starting a police force, the city has no record of any studies ever done. And for all the people who have said they have run the numbers, no one has ever shown me any of their numbers.

Hello Citizens of Fire District 4,
I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of you who helped us make it through the July 4th holiday with very little impact from fireworks. I realize it is “no fun” to miss out on this tradition it is one of the ways we show our patriotism to celebrate this great nation.

Vote yes to re-elect Mayor Tim Verzal. I would describe Mayor Verzal’s last term of office with three words; commitment, experience, performance.
