Gender inclusion policies were addressed during public comments at the Deer Park School Board meeting when a parent raised concerns. The board clarified they are legally mandated by state law to provide the inclusions.

The Deer Park School District held its first Transportation Open House. Families met bus drivers, and kids explored buses, all to ensure a smooth start to school, which began last Wednesday. The staff at the bus garage is already busy with new routes underway.
Recently, Loon Lake Library broke ground on a new, modern facility as part of the Stevens County Libraries Legacy Projects. The new library, expected to open in 2025, will feature expanded space and resources. Fundraising continues to support this essential project.
During dangerous Red Flag conditions, a fire broke out near Margert and J Streets, posing a serious threat to the nearby suburban and wildland areas. Upon arrival, crews first reported the flames around 2 feet tall.

Starting today, April 1st, H Street will be closed to through traffic from its intersection with Colville Street to an unspecified point to the west. According to signs posted by the City of Deer Park, the closure is expected to last until April 5th. Unfortunately, first responders were unaware of the closure today during a medical emergency.
