Maycumber & Engell Enter Eastern Washington’s Political Arena

Chain reactions started when Cathy McMorris-Rodgers announced she would not run for re-election. First, Jacquelin Maycumber announced she would run to fill the opening left by McMorris-Rodgers. As a result, Andrew Engell has announced that he will run for Washington State’s 7th Legislative District, the current position held by Maycumber.

In a significant development for Eastern Washington politics, a series of announcements has set off a wave of changes in key political positions. The dominoes began to fall when current Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rodgers, a long-standing figure in Washington politics, revealed she would not seek re-election. 

Jacquelin Maycumber

Following McMorris-Rodgers’ announcement, Jacquelin Maycumber wasted no time declaring her candidacy to fill the void left by the departing congresswoman. Maycumber, already a familiar face in state politics, emphasized her commitment to representing the interests of Eastern Washington residents. With a farming and law enforcement background, Maycumber aims to leverage her diverse experiences to address the region’s pressing concerns.

Andrew Engell

Another candidate stepped into the fray. Andrew Engell, currently serving as Deputy District Director for Cathy McMorris-Rodgers, threw his hat into the ring for Washington’s 7th Legislative District. Engell outlined his priorities, including fighting against excessive regulation and taxes. 

With McMorris-Rodgers stepping aside, a new generation of leaders is poised to shape the region’s future.
