Letter To The Editor – Letter of Support for Fire District 4 Commissioner Roger Kreiger

Dear Community Members,

My name is Mike Thompson, and I have been a resident of Spokane County Fire District #4 for 22 years.  During this time, I have had the privilege of serving on the Citizens Advisory Committee, where we review district operations, monitor facilities, and provide input on funding options.

Through steady leadership from our Fire Commissioners and Fire Chiefs, the district has maintained a clear vision for growth while holding firm to fiscally responsible budgets.  The transition from a primarily volunteer force to today’s combination of full-time and volunteer staff has been guided carefully to preserve both service quality and financial stability.

This election is critically important. Commissioner Roger Krieger brings over 40 years of government and budget management experience.  His leadership ensures that taxpayer dollars are used responsibly to provide excellent service across the district.  In contrast, his opponent—backed by the firefighters’ union—has signaled priorities that focus on expanding staffing and increasing wages.  While we respect our firefighters, decisions must remain centered on residents, service, and sustainable budgets.

I strongly encourage you to vote for the re-election of Commissioner Roger Krieger.  His proven record of fiscal responsibility and community focus will keep Fire District #4 strong, accountable, and prepared for the future.

Respectfully,

Mike Thompson
Citizens Advisory Committee Member

Letter To The Editor – School Levy Importance

As a city council member in the late 70’s and early 80’s and a city employee for 24 years I have heard a lot of misinformation disseminated through “coffee shop” talk and later social media. It has always concerned me to hear incorrect information passed along by people who don’t bother to ask for the facts, when they are readily available. Right now I am hearing of things being said about the Deer Park School levy, particularly the need for a new bus barn, that are troubling.

Establishing A City Police Department In Deer Park

Every few years the subject of establishing a city police department in Deer Park
makes the rounds on social media, local papers, and even the floor of the City Council.
Since the late 70’s when the city disbanded it’s own department and contracted with
the county, well meaning people have thought that it “seems” like we could fund our
own department for what we are paying the county.

Horrific behavior from a School Board Member

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the ongoing unprofessional and harmful behavior of Deer Park School Board Director Ashby. His public accusations against me, falsely labeling me as unethical, amount to defamation and slander, unfairly damaging my reputation. It is unacceptable for a sitting board member to engage in such reckless and baseless personal attacks.
