Built in 1911, a dilapidated home on Crawford Street may soon be demolished. The building was purchased by the city at a recent auction. City crews have already started to remove debris from around the home. The building will be checked for hazardous materials before being torn down.
Recently recovered video of Winterfest 1989 includes the first Outhouse Race in Deer Park. The footage also briefly shows a Snowshoe Softball game in progress and ice sculptures in front of the Deer Park City Hall. Joan Schut narrated the video at the time of recording.
Helen “Dee” Cragun passed away this week. The former City Councilmember is well remembered by family, friends, and community. She was a dedicated and passionate advocate for the city. Our condolences to the Cragun family and loved ones.
The newly appointed Deer Park Chamber of Commerce 2024 Board of Directors, led by President Kelsie Carlson, is preparing to tackle a major project: revitalizing the city’s downtown area. The Chamber, in partnership with Retail Strategies, has launched a survey to gather community input on the project, which is part of a three-year, $180,000 contract with the City of Deer Park.
