Jeannette Marian Sartain Rodin

Jeannette Marian Sartain Rodin passed away December 1, 2023 only five minutes from where she was born, 95 years earlier. Her long life was filled with love, humor, faith, family and kindness.

Jeannette’s life was abundant with pleasures, and everything was done with dedication and humor. She loved to play games, tell stories, watch comedies, laugh, and go on outings. She also greatly enjoyed birds, flowers, painting, and gardening.

Her most defining characteristic was her love and devotion to her family. Her lifelong marriage to William “Bill” Rodin was at the center of her life. Together they had three children, two sons, David and Doug who preceded her in death, and a daughter Laura. Her in-laws, seven grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her friendship and joy.

Jeannette grew up in Grand Coulee, the setting for many of her beloved and often recounted memories. She particularly enjoyed outdoor recreation like swimming, hiking, and ice-skating with her childhood friends. She worked at the Bureau of Reclamation and in Grand Coulee met her husband Bill.

Jeannette and her husband lived in Spokane a few years and decided to move to Deer Park where they started a farm and were very active in 4-H and raising Black Angus.

As a young mother, she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Later, Jeanette worked at the Crescent department store in the lamp department and loved being a saleswoman. With her winning personality she made many friends.

She spent her retirement with a group of peers, deemed “The Lone Eagles” enjoying each other’s company and traveling. She was known for her fairness, high standards, wonderful sense of humor, sensibility and kind heart.

Her long life is over, and she will be missed. Her family takes comfort that she is back home with her husband, sons, mother, father, sisters, and brother and friends. All of whom she loves so dear.
