Important School District Virtual Community Forum

Be part of the conversation on improving Deer Park School District facilities. Join the virtual Community Forum and contribute ideas to address growth and create better student learning environments. Your voice matters in shaping the future of education in Deer Park.

Recognizing the growth taking place in the community and the impact it has on local schools, the Deer Park School District established a Facilities Advisory Committee two years ago. After a thorough study of the current condition of facilities, enrollment trends, and projected growth, the District is hosting a Community Forum to discuss facilities and improvements as part of a bond measure.

Although school bonds may receive less attention than candidate elections or state-wide ballot measures, they hold significant importance as a means through which citizens can influence school policies.

The purposes of school bonds are multi-fold. They address raising the capital needed for constructing new facilities, improving existing ones, enhancing school security, as well as expanding classrooms, administration buildings, athletic fields, and more. Issuing new debt through bonds allows for voter-approved funding of capital projects, typically repaid through property taxes.

The Community Forum, scheduled for May 25th, 2023, will provide a platform for community members to engage in meaningful dialogue, share their thoughts, and contribute ideas regarding the future of Deer Park School District facilities. The forum will be held virtually on Zoom, ensuring accessibility for all interested participants.

The pressing need for facilities improvement and their potential positive impact on student’s education and overall learning environment will be discussed during the forum. The Deer Park School District values the opinions and insights of community members, as they play a vital role in shaping the district’s future.

To join the virtual Community Forum on May 25th at 6:30 PM, use the following Zoom meeting link:https://dpsd-org.zoom.us/s/81712319204.

The district encourages a diverse range of attendees from throughout the Deer Park community to ensure comprehensive and inclusive discussions. The participation and input of community members are highly valued and will guide the decision-making process in determining the best course of action for the school district. In addition, by attending the forum, residents will actively contribute to shaping the future of Deer Park School District facilities.
