Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers traveled across Eastern Washington last week. She discussed the fentanyl crisis, spoke to high school students, met with community leaders, and addressed many more concerns with her district.

The in-person “Conversation with Cathy” Town Hall occurred last week at the Loon Lake Fire Station. The event was well-attended, with constituents from the community sharing concerns like broadband access, infrastructure, and election integrity.

McMorris Rodgers visited Mary Walker High School, where she met with students interested in government. She took time to share her role in Congress on behalf of Eastern Washington, hear students’ concerns, and discuss the many opportunities to get involved in the federal government while still in school. Some of those opportunities included the Congressional Art Competition, Congressional App Competition, and the chance to be nominated to one of our nations’ service academies. She also spoke about internships in her Spokane and D.C. offices and getting involved in her Congressional Youth Advisory Council, which gives students a chance to meet with the congresswoman several times a year.

McMorris Rodgers met with several other groups in Eastern Washington last week. One of those groups was in Spokane County, where she addressed the HALT Fentanyl Act, which deals with the ongoing fentanyl crisis currently ripping through our area. Another meeting was on April 12th, at which she was present at Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake for the Forgotten Heroes Interment. Being laid to rest that day were forty previously unclaimed veterans.  Also, that day she joined the Northwest Public Power Association to discuss the Lower Snake River dams, the critical hydropower they provide, and how our region can continue leading the world in promoting clean energy solutions. Finally, in Walla Walla, she visited both the VA Medical Center regarding the rollout of the Cerner Electronic Health Record system and community and elected leaders to discuss several issues in their community.
