Benefiting from new home construction, property taxes will be going down. Travis Hanson, the school district superintendent, reported on the expected improvements and challenges resulting from the growing population in the area. Plans for airport improvements also moved forward.
Improvements to the Deer Park Airport have been in planning for several years. The city has reached the point now of seeking comments as part of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grant funding requirements. Comments will be accepted until the end of October 26th.
Gavin Barry Morse, 38, of rural Adams County, Washington took his final flight July 2, 2022. Gavin was born September 29, 1983 in Spokane, WA as the youngest of four children and only son to Bruce Morse and Maribeth Benson. Gavin grew up in the Spokane area and came to the Columbia Basin as a student in the Big Bend Community College Aviation program. It was during his time at Big Bend that Gavin met the love of his life, and partner in all things, Erin Wolf, while dirt biking in the Beezley Hills.
Building a straight road can be complicated. Cedar road has been a big project with funds provided by a range of government agencies, including local, state, and federal.

Traffic was at times backed up as people came in the thousands to the first Swap Meet at The Old Drag Strip at the Deer Park Airport, this last Memorial weekend. “It went absolutely great,” said Hargis Adams, one of the founders of the Deer Park Car Club. This Deer Park Car Club sponsored event proved that you do not need to leave Deer Park to have an exciting time.
It was apparent that Jessica C’s recent response to Mary F’s concern about continuous flight school air traffic over her country residence was terribly biased towards allowing a single small local business group to affect the quality of life for many in our chosen county setting.
February proved to be a month for Deer Park to speak out! We received more Letters to the Editor this month than any previous month. Each letter was sincere, well thought out, and insightful.
