Local high school students are filled with dreams of graduation. For seniors, it is the season for celebrations mixed in with finals. This year’s graduation ceremonies will still bear the marks of the COVID-19 virus, but it is beginning to resemble what most parents recognize.

Early August holds the first election, called the Primary. It’s the qualifying round for the main event, so to speak. Declaration of Candidacy Week is over, anyone that wanted to run for any position that will be open in the 2021 election season had to do it by 4:00pm today.

In the last week and a half we have honored all of the wonderful contestants of Miss Deer Park 2021 event. Now we come to celebrate Miss Deer Park Herself, Katiy Wacker! This title win will lead Kaity into a number of new adventures throughout this coming year.

The Deer Park Settlers Day Committee is having their annual dinner on May 22nd from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

The 38th annual Loonsday walk is Saturday June 5th, at 9am. It is open to all ages; the 5 mile course is designed for a family fun run adventure or an easy morning stroll.

Though the Miss Deer Park 2021 event is over, we would love to honor all of the contestants and their achievements by showcasing each in their own spotlight article. Please help us congratulate each one of these wonderful young ladies of character.
