Miss Deer Park Kaity Wacker – The Stars of Miss Deer Park 2021

In the last week and a half we have honored all of the wonderful contestants of Miss Deer Park 2021 event. Now we come to celebrate Miss Deer Park Herself, Katiy Wacker! This title win will lead Kaity into a number of new adventures throughout this coming year.

Miss Deer Park Kaity Wacker: Her parents are Tim and Sarah Wacker.  Kaity wants to become a Pediatric Registered Nurse and plans on getting her AA at Eastern Washington University and her BSN at Washington State University. She is the captain and choreographer of her dance team, and volunteered at Camp Cocolalla. Her favorite TV show is “The Office”. She thanked Nancy Brickner for being a profound influence in her life. She was honored with the scholarship for Miss Deer Park 2021 and also the one for Physical Fitness, Presence and Composure, and Spirit of Deer Park.  

When asked what her biggest take away was from the program so far, she stated, “Meeting the diverse group of beautiful ladies inside and out as well as challenging and growing myself.” We also asked what she was looking forward to the most this year serving as Miss Deer Park she replied, ”I am looking forward to humbly serving this amazing community and sharing a piece of Deer Park with other towns. I also am excited to be more involved with the community and grow through it all.”

Denette Leeann March was born on 08-21-2002 to Lonnie and Tracy March in Spokane, WA. She grew up in Deer Park, WA where she spent her childhood on her family dairy goat farm and Animal rescue, traveling extensively and enjoying all things school with an influence in FFA, 4-H , and production.  

In all the cracks of Denette’s life from 6 years old to shortly prior to passing she was an avid and passionate concert attendee and traveler, in her short time in this life she traveled to 15 countries with some of her favorites destinations including Ireland, London, Hawaii, Belize, New York, Forks, La Push, Montana, and countless Caribbean islands.

Fred R. Miller

FRED R. MILLER,  passed away at home on Jan 14, 2026.  Fred was born in Spokane WA, on April 4,1944.   He grew up in Spokane attending Central Valley High School until his senior year, graduating from Deer Park High School in 1962.  Fred enlisted in the Navy out of high school, spending time in San Diego and Annapolis. He later graduated from WSU with distinction.

Shirley McRae Passes Away at 91

Shirley Eleanor (Kintschi) McRae, 91, of Spokane and formerly Deer Park, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born to Morris Kintschi and Anna (Tanner) Kintschi on April 29, 1934, in Edwall, Washington. She graduated from Edwall High School in 1952, where she met her husband-to-be, John McRae. John and Shirley were married in 1954, and they lived in Redondo Beach, California, while John served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Spokane in 1955, living on Five Mile Prairie, then at Dartford, and finally in the house that John designed and built in Deer Park in 1976, where the family lived for over 42 years.

Alycyn Denton Crowned Miss Deer Park 2022

Tonight, tickets were sold out for the 2022 Miss Deer Park Scholarship Program annual event. Six local Deer Park High School junior or sophomore ladies competed this year.

Alycyn Denton was crowned Miss Deer Park 2022 by the former Miss Deer Park Kaity Wacker. 2021 Princesses Xandria Moss and Mason Griffin awarded their crowns to the new 2022 Princesses Zoey Krous and Faith Marrocco.
