Candidate Forums Coming In October

Candidate Forums for both City Council and School Board positions have been announced recently. The forums are scheduled just a few days before ballots are scheduled to arrive via the post office. Both are free and open to the public.

In a small town, politics and elections can get complicated. The school board forum can’t be held at any of the school buildings because of state election laws restricting school board members from using school property during campaigning. The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce opted not to host the City Council forum as current Board of Directors President Billy Costello is running unopposed for one of the City Council positions. Costello will be required to step down from the Chamber board when he takes office because the Chamber is currently contracted with the city to provide a range of services.

Both candidate forums will be live-streamed on the Deer Park Gazette Facebook Page and YouTube Channel.
