Evacuees fleeing the Oregon Road Fire have a range of resources available to them. We have compiled a list of what is available and how others can help people impacted by the fire. For those interested in volunteering & donating, please contact the organizations listed beforehand, as needs will change over time.
Staying Safe
Urging people to be safe, fire and law enforcement officials are asking everyone to leave the areas that are under evacuation. To ensure that notifications are received, Spokane Regional Emergency Communications(SREC) recommends signing up for alerts and using the CodeRED app. You can access both from the website: Spokane911.com
Staying out, if you don’t need to be in the evacuation area, is vital for everyone’s safety. Rescuing people that have stayed behind hampers firefighters’ efforts. The Spokane County Sheriff has increased patrols of the evacuation areas to prevent looting.
Shelter
The primary shelter the Red Cross coordinates is Riverside High School at 4120 E. Deer Park Milan Road, Chattaroy. They reported not having space for additional donations of clothing, food, or drinks. Instead, please take donations to North County Food Pantry in Elk or the GreenHouse Food Bank in Deer Park. Due to health regulations, homemade food is not permitted at this shelter.
There is also a Red Cross shelter set up at Spokane Falls Community College at 3410 W. Whistalks Way, Spokane.

Evacuation & Fire Cleanup
An army of volunteers organized through a Facebook page are helping to evacuate animals of all kinds to safety. There are also volunteers with water trucks and bulldozers offering to help clean up hotspots after the fire has passed.
Miller’s One Stop currently serves as the staging location for waiting trucks, trailers, and drivers.
