Limited Curbside Open at Deer Park Library

Deer Park Library continues to have its brick-and-mortar building closed due to an equipment failure. They are no longer giving an estimated reopening date. The library has limited services open at this time, even if the doors are not.

Deer Park Library closed early on August 2nd because their air conditioning system failed.  The library will be closed to the public until the system is repaired. The library states that supply chain issues have delayed the needed part(s) for repair at this time. However, they are providing limited services through their Curbside and LINC vehicle. LINC is a mobile library, and the acronym stands for “Libraries In Neighborhoods & Communities.”

Curbside Pickup

You can pick up holds at the library once you are notified that they are available. Curbside pickup service will be available at Deer Park Library from 9am to 12pm on Monday-Saturday. Why the limited time? To make the curbside pickup service possible, the library has devised a momentary way to cool the staff area before temperatures rise in the afternoon. The whole building cannot be cooled sufficiently at this point, and inside the library, temperatures have not dropped below 80 degrees, even overnight. If daytime temperatures begin to decrease before repairs are made, they will extend their services.

LINC Visits

LINC is a mobile library, and the acronym stands for “Libraries In Neighborhoods & Communities.” It will visit the Deer Park Library parking lot periodically throughout this situation. During visits, it will have a mini library for people to check out from, collect holds, use Wi-Fi, and even use library computers. The only date planned as of right now is Wednesday, August 24, 2pm–4pm. To see where LINC will be next, visit Scld.org/locations/linc/#all-events.
