Deer Park Library has been offering snacks to kids using a federal grant for many years now. During the pandemic, they received an exemption so that families could pick up snacks without following the standard participation requirements. However, with Spokane County Libraries expanding their services, the library is no longer eligible for the exemption.
Now to participate in their snack program, you will have to follow these guidelines:
- Snacks served Monday through Friday between 3pm – 4pm
- Kids will have to be present to sign in
- Kids will have to eat at least half the snack at the library
Current mandates say that you must wear a mask in the library unless you are drinking or eating. Kids must eat the snack on the library property, as well as continue to follow the mask mandates after partaking in their snack.
