Watch: Meet The Candidates at Mont Lamm

Candidates vying for the various positions in Deer Park’s mayor-council government gathered to let the voters get to know them through a question and answer session.

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce hosted a special Meet The Candidates luncheon at Mont Lamm Event Center. The community was invited to hear from the Mayoral and City Council candidates.

People submitted questions they wanted to have answered to the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce, with a two bucket system to randomly draw, one for the candidate’s name, the other with questions for them to answer. A final question was asked to all the candidates, with each having a time limit to respond. There was additionally a short question-answer time with the audience. The Deer Park Gazette recorded this event; you can view it at: DPGazette.com/dpccforum2021

Present for the event were mayoral candidates Tim Verzal and Hazel McGillivray, as well as council candidates Jason Upchurch, Billy Costello, Richard Schut, Heather Newsom, and Mike Achurra. Mary J Babb and Henry Lever were unable to make the event. The presenter was Nate Hoeksema, Deer Park Chamber of Commerce President and the Funeral Director of Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. The event was held on July 20th, ahead of the primary election in August.
