City Hall is getting a new ramp after the previous one fell into disrepair. Construction is currently ongoing to replace the 2011 structure with stronger steel, thicker cement, heating elements, and a high-tech coating. Brad Wainwright, Street Supervisor for Deer Park, updated the city council on the overhaul of the ramp, and in correspondence, explained in greater detail the specifics of the repairs.
Spokane County Libraries announced the reopening of their eleven facilities to the public on March 8th in a limited capacity. This will be the second time that the Spokane County Libraries will be reopening their doors; the last time was in November 2020. They were only able to remain open for a couple of weeks before they had to close back down.
Work continues on the Middle School addition despite cold temperatures and wind.
Sandra (Sandee) Lynn Kircher , beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, went home to Jesus on December 20th, 2020. Friends and family have set up a fundraiser to help offset the costs related to Sandee’s unexpected passing, as well as other expenses.
Greater Spokane County (GSC) Meals on Wheels, a mobile meal delivery service providing meals to individuals 60 and older, has recently unveiled their Diner’s Choice Program. This program provides senior citizens in the area with a set of coupons to use at participating regional restaurants.
These last twelve months have been a year of “Aw.” Moments and events have gone from Awful to Awesome and back again. Throughout these strange times, the community has taken a stand to help their neighbors, and subsequently had incredible impacts toward making our area better.

In spite of the ever changing COVID-19 situation, Miss Deer Park organizers have not given up. The effects of COVID-19 are seeping into every corner of Deer Park and making changes to many of our favorite local traditions. By March, planning for the Miss Deer Park Scholarship event should be in full swing.
