Big Hunk is the Deer Park High School Key Club’s annual boy’s volleyball tournament to raise money for a variety of charitable causes. This year all proceeds are going to “Alex’s Lemonade Stand” Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Key Club would like you to come out and support your high school junior and senior guys’ volleyball as they battle it out for cancer.

With an abrupt change in weather, local trees are more likely to be damaged by snow and wind. Exactly a month ago, the high temperature reached 80° F. Recent snow has further weakened or damaged trees. Now high winds are expected this coming weekend.

The Lakeside Eagles shocked the Deer Park Stags 1-0 on Tuesday, scoring a last-minute goal to claim the Northeast A League high school soccer championship and earn an automatic bid to the state tournament. Deer Park has another chance to make the 1A state bracket — a win over Cascade High School on Saturday would guarantee the Stags a spot in the 16-team field.

Deer Park Kiwanis is offering a cash prize for logo design. The artist will also be part of Deer Park history for the 38th annual WinterFest celebration.
