Consider patronizing local restaurants during Dine Out To Help Out. Participating restaurants will donate 10% of their day’s proceeds to the GreenHouse Food Bank.

The Chamber of Commerce is one of the local groups working to help Deer Park move with purpose into the future. The Chamber’s Board of Directors is planning an open forum called “Building A Remarkable Community” for November 18th at Lofty Skies (851 S Main Street) to bring more people into this community conversation.

Winterfest planning is in full swing right now, and it’s time for the community to get involved in a big way. Many positions need to be filled and support is still required; however, volunteer participation continues to drop lower and lower.

A couple of new things are popping up in Deer Park right now. You may have noticed the new STCU sign lighting up Main Street behind the Medicine Shoppe (around 708 South Main Street). Additionally, Domino’s Pizza opened November 11th.

Each month’s prompt will be in the newspaper and on Facebook. Our favorite stories will be published the following month. Responses will be judged on creativity and the ability to communicate a story. Submit your six-word story by the 25th of each month.

After two town hall meetings and lots of campaigning, the city council election is finally behind us… Well, maybe not quite yet. One position in contest is extremely close. These are still early results and may be subject to change.

As snow begins appearing in the forecast and the temperatures begin dipping down, it is time to start preparing your outside pets for winter.

The 2019 season is ramping up for the Deer Park Equestrian team. Practices began this September and will continue, weather permitting, through to their events this spring.

Fall is here and winter is coming, which means cooler temperatures, and the need for barn cats! Get these feisty felines to keep unwanted pests out.
