This week marks the last summer food distribution provided by 2nd Harvest in partnership with Faith Lutheran Church. Each distribution has been in high demand, with many local families benefiting.
After the air conditioning system failed at the Deer Park Library, they closed early on August 2nd. They were going to reopen on Monday, August 8th; however, they have extended that to August 15th, and this date is subject to change. Currently, the Spokane County Library District (SCLD) has called the Mobile Service department in the form of LINC to fill in for the services provided by the brick-and-mortar locations, but in a limited capacity.
We’re less than a week away from the Deer Park Yard Sale (DPYS); held annually during the first weekend in August for over 10 years! Whether you are hosting a sale or hunting for a bargain, this weekend will be a great time
In appreciation of their outstanding support, Sculley’s Automotive was recognized by Deer Park Rotary. Sculley’s Automotive, located on 33 W. Crawford Street in Deer Park, does more than check brakes and change tires. In a recent meeting, Deer Park’s Rotary Club gifted a Community Award to Sculley’s Automotive for their aid within the Riverside High School community.
The Time Capsule Committee is asking the Deer Park community to participate in a historical gift that will not be opened until the year 2121. So that future Deer Park members will be able to reminisce about our present time.
Faith Lutheran Church partnered with 2nd Harvest to serve families in Deer Park in June, and these organizations are not done helping our community this summer. They have scheduled two more events, one in July and the other in August.
Fireworks will be allowed this year, both professional and private fireworks. Over the last few years the changing laws and restrictions have created some confusion about what is allowed this year.
The Deer Park Market, previously called First Saturday Market, came back in June with new management and exciting new features. There are going to be three more markets for you to enjoy this outdoor event before the season ends.
Award pins were presented to Doug Lilly for contributions to the Rotary Foundation. A local park has benefited from Lilly’s dedication to making a difference. Rotarian Doug Lilly, owner of LifeWorks Financial Services, was presented with the “Paul Harris Plus Two Pin” at a recent Rotary Club Meeting.
