Celebrate Your Community At The Annual Art Show

The SCLD Community Art Show is back, inviting artists of all ages to showcase their creativity and love for their community. Free miniature canvases will be available at Spokane County Libraries throughout February. This year’s theme, Celebrate Your Community, encourages participants to highlight what makes their hometown special.

The Spokane County Library District (SCLD) is once again hosting the Community Art Show event that brings together artists of all skill levels to celebrate local creativity. Participants can explore what they love most about their community and express it through art, whether through painting, mixed media, or another form of visual expression. The show is open to all ages, making it a true reflection of the region’s diverse artistic talent.

How to Participate

To make participation accessible, SCLD is offering free miniature art canvases at library branches from February 1st through February 28th, while supplies last. When picking up a canvas, artists will also receive an information card that must be returned with their completed artwork. Artists are encouraged to use their own materials to create their pieces, ensuring a broad range of styles and techniques.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions must meet family-friendly content standards. Originality is required and artists must confirm they are not infringing on any copyrights. By submitting their artwork, participants grant SCLD permission to create and share a digital image of their work on its website, social media, and promotional materials for up to one year. However, artists retain full copyright over their work, including any digital images created by SCLD.

The submission deadline is February 28th, 2025.

Only one submission per person is allowed. Each piece must include an artist information sheet to be displayed. Submissions may be featured in the Virtual Art Show, chosen at the discretion of library staff.

Participation is voluntary and unpaid, and SCLD reserves the right to reject any submission for reasons such as inappropriate content or missing information. Artists must pick up their artwork between April 2nd to April 14th, 2025, from the library where it was submitted. Any unclaimed artwork after April 14th will be discarded or recycled.

Viewing the Art Show

From March 7th to March 31st, the artwork will be on display at all SCLD libraries during open hours. A virtual gallery will also be available on the Community Art Show web page, featuring selected works from across Spokane County. This allows residents to enjoy the creativity of their neighbors both in-person and online.

The Community Art Show is an opportunity to showcase the talent, imagination, and unique perspectives of local artists. By participating, residents can connect through art and share what makes their community feel like home.
