New Addition Underway At Perrins Field

The Deer Park City Crew members awaited the cement delivery for the foundation after having completed excavating the location for the pavilion.

Deer Park City is working on a new project at Perrins Field to enhance the community space. This latest improvement will offer more options for events and gatherings in the park.

Deer Park city workers are currently engaged in a small public works project at Perrins Field, located at 300 East Crawford St, where they are constructing a new pavilion. Earlier this week, crews dug the foundation and poured the concrete, which will take about a week to cure. Once the foundation is set,  the pavilion can go up. The project is anticipated to be finished by late September or early October.

Since the size reduction due to the construction of the Fire Station, Perrins Field has experienced a noticeable decrease in community use. This new structure will provide a sheltered space for public gatherings and community events.

One of Perrins Field’s regular activities is the Deer Park Market, held on the first Saturday of each month, May through October. The market features a variety of vendors offering goods such as fresh produce, handmade crafts, local food, and other unique products. It serves as a community gathering spot, allowing residents and visitors to support local businesses while enjoying a lively outdoor marketplace atmosphere. More information about the market is available on their website at: thedeerparkmarket.com.

When completed, the pavilion will serve as a venue for outdoor activities, family picnics, and small events. City workers are committed to keeping the project on schedule, weather permitting. While construction is ongoing, visitors to Perrins Field are encouraged to observe safety precautions around the work zone. Once finished, the pavilion is expected to become a valuable asset to the park, enriching the amenities available to the Deer Park community.

The last significant improvement to the area, the installation of new bathrooms, was completed as part of Deer Park City’s 2019 Comprehensive Parks, Recreation Plan, and Conservation Plan. The pavilion’s construction is part of Deer Park City’s goal outlined in their Comprehensive Plan 2017 Update, which is to provide a full range of amenities necessary to retain and attract economic activity.
