GreenHouse Food Bank On The Move

The GreenHouse Food Bank and Resource Center will temporarily close next week to relocate to a new facility in Deer Park. The organization is seeking community support for the costs associated with the move.

The GreenHouse, a prominent community resource in Deer Park, will close temporarily from September 16th through the 20th to facilitate a move to a new location. The nonprofit, currently situated at 211 Fir Avenue, will be relocating to 125 North Park Avenue. The GreenHouse plans to reopen at its new facility on Monday, September 23rd.

As the organization prepares for this transition, it is reaching out to the community for support to help cover the costs associated with the move. Those interested in contributing can donate through the organization’s website at Greenhousedp.com/donate. Additionally, supporters can assist by purchasing items from The GreenHouse’s Amazon wishlist, accessible at Amzn.to/3vpyq7W.

GreenHouse Food Bank and Resource Center

The GreenHouse is more than a food bank. They also provide a range of assistance programs to support residents in the Deer Park and Clayton areas. For those in need, the Food Bank offers monthly access to non-perishable food items and weekly opportunities to obtain bread and produce. The Basic Food Assistance Program assists individuals in applying for Basic Food Assistance (EBT cards) and offers aid with annual reviews, with appointments available to receive guidance. Senior adults aged 60 and above can explore the option of Commodity Supplemental Food boxes, known as Senior Boxes, provided they meet income requirements. These boxes can be obtained by reaching out in person or via phone to determine eligibility. The organization also distributes essential personal hygiene items, including soap, shaving cream, feminine hygiene products, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, makeup, diapers, wipes, and more, as available. Additionally, the organization offers utility assistance, including support for Avista utility payments once a year and limited aid for non-conventional utility needs such as Inland Power and City of Deer Park water, also on an annual basis.

Individuals can actively support this organization by volunteering time, donating non-perishable goods, and spreading the word about the extended Monday evening hours. To see the GreenHouse’s current needs, visit Greenhousedp.com/current-needs/. If you want to make a monetary donation, you can go to Greenhousedp.com/donate/.

Consider donating items in high demand, such as canned proteins, whole grains, and nutritious snacks suitable for children. Every contribution, big or small, goes a long way in ensuring that the food bank continues to serve as a pillar of hope for those facing tough times.
