GreenHouse Food & Clothing Bank Change Of Hours

The GreenHouse Food and Clothing is once again adjusting its hours, this time reducing service availability and shifting to an earlier schedule. However, food bank representatives encourage those with scheduling conflicts to reach out for potential accommodations.

Food insecurity continues to affect families nationwide, including in Deer Park. The GreenHouse Food Bank and Resource Center has remained a reliable resource, adapting to economic shifts to support the community. Back in September the GreenHouse relocated to 125 North Park Avenue in Deer Park in the hope that the facility would be a better fit for their program needs.

The revised schedule started this week on February 3rd. This change will slightly reduce their operating hours and shift services to earlier in the day. The GreenHouse Food and Clothing Bank hours will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm. The change follows a previous adjustment in August 2023 that had extended Monday’s hours later into the afternoon to accommodate families working nine-to-five jobs or having childcare responsibilities. Those unable to visit during these times are encouraged to reach out to discuss alternative arrangements.

A question asked via Facebook inquired, “Did the later opening time and evening hours on Mondays go away due to lack of volunteers?” a representative from the GreenHouse responded, “No, it has to do with clientele flow, operational expenses. We will continue to do outreach to ensure those in need are served.”

For more information or to discuss scheduling concerns, residents are encouraged to contact the food bank directly. Office hours for the GreenHouse are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 3pm, and their phone number is (509) 272-4189.

Individuals can actively support this organization by volunteering time, donating non-perishable goods, and spreading the word about the extended Monday evening hours.
