Survey & New Board Members Starting 2024 Strong

Kelsie Carlson speaks during the January Chamber Luncheon.

The newly appointed Deer Park Chamber of Commerce 2024 Board of Directors, led by President Kelsie Carlson, is preparing to tackle a major project: revitalizing the city’s downtown area. The Chamber, in partnership with Retail Strategies, has launched a survey to gather community input on the project, which is part of a three-year, $180,000 contract with the City of Deer Park.

Downtown Survey

The Deer Park City Council approved the contract with Retail Strategies in October 2023, with the goal of attracting national brands to the city and boosting economic development. The contract includes a downtown program, the details of which are still being developed, and retail recruitment efforts. The contract’s first year will cost the city $90,000, with $45,000 for each additional year.

The Chamber’s Economic Development Committee, led by Jennifer Shorts and Peggy Coyle, played a key role in advocating for the contract. Believing that Retail Strategies’ expertise will be valuable in revitalizing Deer Park’s downtown, the council voted unanimously in favor of the contract. The Economic Development Committee is now working with Retail Strategies to develop the downtown program, and the survey is a crucial first step in that process. Notably, the survey does not provide a specific definition of the downtown area. Input from individuals could tremendously impact the future of Deer Park downtown.

The survey is open to the public and can be taken online. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DowntownDeerPark

Susan was born April 18th, 1953, in Spokane, WA, to William and Reubie Robideaux. She went to join the Lord peacefully, in her sleep on August 5th, 2024, at her cherished home on Reflection Lake in Elk, WA.
