102nd Settlers Weekend Celebration (with Photo Gallery)

Deer Park’s much-anticipated Settlers Day Weekend lived up to its reputation, as the 102nd occurrence delighted locals and visitors alike with a diverse range of festivities. From fun runs and a dazzling parade to a car show, basketball tournament, and more, the weekend was packed with activities for all ages.

The Clayton Rodeo at the Clayton Fair Grounds also added an electrifying show to the weekend, offering thrilling horsemanship performances on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Saturday was the highlight of the celebration, starting with the Settlers Day Fun Run and Parade. The Fun Run, held at Perrins Field, saw participants choose between a 4-mile, 1-mile, or a free kids dash, supporting the Deer Park High School (DPHS) Track & Field teams. The parade wove its way through the town, captivating spectators.

Mix Park became a bustling hub of activity after the parade, with food, crafts, and commercial booths attracting visitors for a delightful sense of community togetherness. Automobile enthusiasts were enthralled by the Car Show, featuring an impressive array of classic and contemporary vehicles, accompanied by performances from the Time Travelers, who treated the crowd to a diverse musical experience. Meanwhile, Swinyard Park hosted the 3on3 Basketball Tournament, where teams battled it out in competitive, coed, and high school brackets.

Sunday offered a more reflective moment as churches from the Deer Park area united for a community worship service at Mix Park, followed by a potluck meal.

Deer Park Settlers Weekend once more affirmed its status as a remarkable celebration, paying homage to the city’s rich heritage and highlighting the thriving community spirit that sets Deer Park apart as an extraordinary hometown.
