Deer Park Dollars for Scholars(DPDS) gives scholarships to local students. Seventeen exceptional graduating students from Deer Park School District were awarded this year. With a diverse range of scholarships available, DPDS supports students’ educational dreams.

Deer Park Dollars for Scholars (DPDS), founded in 2001, has actively supported local students in pursuing higher education. The organization is a chapter of Scholarship America; its dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to raise scholarship funds throughout the year. By providing financial assistance, Deer Park Dollars for Scholars empowers students to reach their educational goals, setting them on a path to success.

This year, scholarships amounting to $17,914 were presented to seventeen students. Thirteen students are from Deer Park High School, and four are from Deer Park’s Home Link. The recipients and their respective colleges of choice were announced during the Shining Star Awards night for Deer Park High School and presented at the Home Link Graduation ceremony.

How Scholarships Are Awarded
Students can apply for local and national scholarships through the Deer Park Dollars For Scholars (DPDS) website at: deerpark.dollarsforscholars.org. Submitting an application is done online, and only one application is necessary to apply for all awards available. Seniors must apply by April to be considered.

Though seniors are encouraged to apply for multiple scholarships, the board ensures that rewards are evenly distributed by selecting a different student for each scholarship available and coordinating winners with other scholarships in the community that are not affiliated with DPDS.

Some collegiate partners of Dollars for Scholars will match awards for students. After an institution’s scholarships and loans are applied, each award will be factored in by financial aid from a student’s unmet need. An institution’s aid will not be replaced with awards given by DPDS so students don’t lose any money towards their school costs.

Volunteers and Donations Needed
DPDS is looking for volunteers to help with fundraising events, maintain the DPDS website, and solicit donations. Meetings are held once or twice a year.

Deer Park Dollars for Scholars welcomes contributions to their scholarship funds. By donating, individuals can directly impact the educational journeys of Deer Park graduating students. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. Those interested can donate online at: deerpark.dollarsforscholars.org or mail directly to:

With a heavy heart we announce the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear friend Susan G. Robideaux Emry. She went to join the Lord peacefully, in her sleep on August 5th, 2024, at her cherished home on Reflection Lake in Elk, WA. Susan grew up and rivaled her feisty, fun-loving, 5 brothers in Spokane, WA, where they performed musical skits for family friends. She attended Marycliff and Mead High Schools. She met her future husband, Brian (Bud) Emry, at a party and was instantly charmed when he tuned his harmonica in orange soda. Bud, in turn, was captivated by Susan’s party trick – reciting Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious backwards.
