Deer Park’s Primary Election: Candidates & Dates

Get to know the candidates running for Deer Park City Council and Deer Park School District positions in the upcoming Primary Election.

The Primary Election is just around the corner, and several candidates have filed their declarations of candidacy for positions in the Deer Park City Council and Deer Park School District. May 22nd marked the final day to withdraw from the ballot. May 26th was the deadline for submitting Voters’ Pamphlet statements and photographs. Here are the final names of the candidates and the key dates to remember.

In the Deer Park School District run for Director At Large, the Primary Election will determine the final two candidates who will advance to the General Election. Five candidates are vying for the position in the Director At Large race. Meegan Ware, Eric Keller, Shauneen Flugel, Richard Price, and Samantha Jordan are all actively participating in the Primary Election. Their unique backgrounds, qualifications, and visions for the school district highlight the importance of this race.

All other Deer Park School District and City Council Positions up for grabs will move on to the General Elections due to having two are less competing for the position. In the Deer Park School District, Gina Langbehn and Craig Phillips are running for Director of District No. 1 . For Director of District No. 4, Gerry Ashby and Carri Breckner are competing for the position. For City Council Position No. 2, Helen (Dee) Cragun and Fred Senn are in the running. Billy Costello is registered for the City Council Position No. 4 seat uncontested. In the race for City Council Position No. 5 are Scott Campbell and Diane Pfaeffle.

The 18-day voting period for the Primary Election will begin on July 14 and end on Election Day. Mail and online registrations must be received on July 24th, eight days before Election Day, and in-person registration will be available until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Remember to deposit your ballot in an official drop box by 8 pm on August 1st, Election Day.
