Letter To Editor – Excited to Serve Deer Park!

Typewriter with paper reading "Letters to the Editor"

Greetings Deer Park,

I am deeply honored and grateful to have been selected as Deer Park School District’s next superintendent by our Board of Directors. After serving Deer Park’s students, staff, and community for the past two years, I have learned how truly special our community is and look forward to continuing our journey together.

Over the past two years, I have observed how the members of our Deer Park Community and Deer Park School District care deeply for and support each other. I have discovered and come to appreciate the unique attributes of our community and district that make this a place where generations of families establish deep roots. It has been a blessing to be welcomed into such an amazing community. I am proud to be a part of your community. When I chose to move my family across the state two years ago, it was because I yearned to find a community that aligned with my personal values and met the needs of my family, especially during the pandemic. I strongly value care, compassion, family, professionalism, and high expectations. Additionally, I believe in empowering students, staff, and educators by ensuring these voices are represented in decision-making processes. I am a service-oriented and collaborative leader who leads from my values. I also believe as strongly today, as I did when I chose to come to Deer Park two years ago, that my values align with the values and needs of our district and community.

I was inspired by what I found in Deer Park; a small-town connection that made the community feel more like family and the student-centered service model of the district staff and educators. I was also impressed by the collaborative effort of the district and community as we worked hard to safely reopen schools, knowing it was the best choice for our students and the educational community. I have come to care deeply for our students, educators, staff, and community. I have fallen in love with this community. I am honored to have the opportunity to continue working with you all to provide the best possible educational environment and services for our students.

I have enjoyed my time supporting our student and community events. Whether this be cheering on the Stags, watching the high school plays, attending Home Link’s game night, Night at the North Pole, Settler’s Days, or most recently joining Deer Park’s Rotary, I have enjoyed getting to know our community! I look forward to connecting with you, too, and will be offering several invitations over the coming months.

As your superintendent, I will ensure a smooth and consistent transition by maintaining a climate and culture of care and community while retaining our vision and mission. I am committed to serving our students, educators, staff, and the community and believe my dedication, skills, beliefs, and contributions match our community and its values.

 With gratitude and in service,

Alexa Allman, Ed.D.
