Making After School a Place to Learn, Play, Grow, and Be a Kid!

By McKaela Paquet, Right At School Area Manager

At Right At School our mission is to inspire a love of learning, support schools, and give parents peace of mind. Right At School has partnered with several schools in the Nine Mile, Deer Park and Riverside school districts to provide extended-day programs where students can have fun and bolster their learning while interacting with a deep, enriching curriculum.

Every day at Right At School is a chance to learn, play and grow. Our programs are safe and onsite at your school, in a place full of caring educators, new and best friends, and heaps of fun! Every day we make sure our Right Club programs are:

A Place to Learn

Every afternoon, we get homework done first and then we explore a great big universe of learning activities, focusing on skills and subjects that will help kids succeed in school. Our curriculum team develops unique lesson plans and enrichment activities for each day in the school year, supporting math & science, reading & writing, nature & outdoor learning, creative & performing arts, and community service.

A Place to Play

Making time for daily movement and fun fitness activities is an essential part of our program. We offer kids a range of activities to fit their physical abilities and comfort zones so everyone can participate and come home saying “I did it!” Our educators model positive social interactions and sportsmanship through fun games and sports. We also provide unique equipment and activities to make physical activity fun for all. Children are provided choices, including participating in staff-led games as well as the opportunity to self-navigate in supervised play on the playground individually or with friends, or to develop a game on their own with peers, such as Flag Football. Our fitness curriculum offers staff a wide range of outdoor as well as indoor options, so even when weather is inclement, we keep students moving and fit!

A Place to Grow

We help kids find the laughs and smiles that come from feeling good about oneself, helping others, discovering our own potential, and sharing inner joy with friends and family. We continuously seek to create a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students by practicing culturally-responsive teaching and fostering children’s positive identity development.

We believe all students should have access to great before and after school programs, and those programs should be affordable for all families. In addition to providing discounts for siblings, military families, and students who receive free or reduced lunch, Right At School accepts Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families Child Care Subsidy Programs (CCSP) subsidies. Families in need who qualify for subsidies may be able to access our programs at little to no cost. Right At School staff are well-versed in state childcare subsidies and will proactively help you complete this process.
