Know Your Candidates 2022

Election season has started as the last day to declare candidacy has officially passed. The wait is on to cast your vote for Washington based U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, and other important roles that are determined by the citizens.

All around the United States, campaigning is underway for important roles such as the U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives, and more. Although votes can’t officially be cast until July 17th of this year, signs, stickers, and billboards are being placed in yards, windows, and on the side of various roads in support of different candidates. 

Below is a list of dates for voter registration, voting deadlines, and more. 

 

Primary

July 15th – Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Ballots are mailed out and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers.

July 25th – Online and mail registrations must be received eight days before Election Day. Register to vote in person during business hours and any time before 8:00pm on Election Day.

August 2nd – Deadline for Washington State voter registration or updates (in person only).

August 2nd –  Primary – Deposit your ballot in an official drop box by 8:00pm on Election Day.

 

General Election

October 21st – Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Ballots are mailed out, and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers.

October 31st –  Online and mail registrations must be received eight days before Election Day. Register to vote in person during business hours and any time before 8:00pm on Election Day.

November 8th – Deadline for Washington State voter registration or updates (in person only).

Albert “Al” Stevens was born to Warren and Luella Stevens on December 4, 1937. He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1955, attended EWU for two years, and served in the Army National Guard. Like his late brother Donald, he worked for the Department of Natural Resources as a firefighter but spent most of his career in sales.

US-395 Reopened Following Motorcycle & Pickup Collision

Traffic is moving again on US-395, but the investigation into today’s serious motorcycle crash is far from over.

As of 5pm today, all lanes of US-395 have been reopened to traffic. Earlier today, a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a white pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 395 and H Street, which is near Henery Hardware, forced a complete closure of the highway, resulting in significant gridlock through the heart of Deer Park.
