Emergency Powers – Letter To Editor

Typewriter with paper reading "Letters to the Editor"

To the editor:
It has been two years since the Covid lockdowns and since Governor Jay Inslee was granted emergency powers. This is much too long for this much power to be given to one man. In the beginning there was much ignorance and little knowledge about Covid. The argument was made that decisions needed to be made quickly. That may have seemed to make sense then, but not now. Looking back, many of these quick decisions were wrong. Yet Mr. Inslee has shown no sign of returning power to the legislature as he should. I don’t think this is a partisan issue as his party is in the majority in the legislature.
The latest variants of Covid are quicker spreading, but less dangerous. Masked and lockdowns have been found to be ineffective. The Vaccines are much less effective than we were told and new side effects seem to crop up every day. We have been misled and lied to in a manner that I have never seen before. Here is northeast Washington most of what government mandates is being ignored. It’s a lot like prohibition. The reality is that the average person judge’s risk better than government can.
I am very concerned that Inslee will hold on to his one man rule as long as he can. I am afraid he will use these powers to do things that have nothing to do with Covid. Remember, Inslee is a zealot about “global warming” and “green energy”. Like all zealots in his fervor he can so a lot of damage without regard for the citizens he currently rules.
If you agree with what I am saying I suggest you contact your State Legislature or the Governor’s office and make your opinion known. Thanks for reading.
