Last Minute Changes: Winterfest 2022

The WinterFest committee recently announced venue changes for this year’s event. Indoor activities will now take place in the Deer Park Fire Station meeting rooms, and Perrins Field is now the location for some outdoor ones instead of the Deer Park High school.

WinterFest 2022 will still be held this weekend on January 15th, 2022, as planned. Due to staff shortages and concerns regarding the recent spike in COVID-19, Deer Park School District has decided not to host the event. Last week, Superintendent Hanson confirmed that the building would not be available. On Monday, January 10th, the fire station at 315 E Crawford was announced as the events’ new location. The location is smaller than the high school, which has led to several logistical challenges. However, many of the activities that make WinterFest so beloved will still happen;such as the Frostbite 5K and Outhouse Races. In addition, many other events have been added, like a snowflake race, snowshoe relay, cake walk, and fireworks.

The event committee still has ongoing work, so changes could still arise even though the event is days away. Below is the schedule as of 1/10/2022. The Deer Park Gazette has a page dedicated to this event at DPGazette.com/winterfest and we will update you as soon as we receive any changes.
