Cedar Road Dedication

Building a straight road can be complicated. Cedar road has been a big project with funds provided by a range of government agencies, including local, state, and federal.

While the road still has a few details left, the majority of the work has been completed. Mayor Verzal led the dedication and ribbon cutting of the North Cedar Road paving and infrastructure project at noon on Wednesday, October 13th. Due to weather, the ceremonies were held inside the Knight Construction building at 6th and Cedar Road near the Deer Park Airport.

The industrial park project has spanned over ten years. As a key regional project, it affects Deer Park as well as Spokane County and Eastern Washington as a whole. Nearly $10 million was spent on new infrastructure, with one of the benefits being to provide an all-weather road to the growing airport area. As a result of this project, an additional 110 acres of land has become more readily available for industrial purposes. New building construction costs $17 million and will provide new locations for business and create jobs for the community.

“The prospect of creating new jobs and further expanding our economy should excite everyone here today as we think about the amazing possibilities that are just around the corner,” said Andrew Engell, a representative of Congresswoman McMorris-Rodgers’s office.
