Primary Election Results 2021

The official ballot drop box closed at 8pm for the primary election that took place on August 3rd this year. The early results are in and laid out here. However, the county canvassing boards will be certifying the results as of August 17. Again these are only preliminary results; the final results may vary, especially if any recounts occur. Only the two candidates with the most votes will move on to the general election on November 2nd. 

According to the Washington Secretary of State website, there are 2,975 registered voters in Deer Park as of August 2, 2021.

Fire At Sculley’s Auto Quickly Extinguished

Fire erupted from a van parked in front of Sculley’s on Monday. A quick response by Spokane County Fire District #4 crews prevented a vehicle fire from spreading to the structure. Traffic was blocked on A Street for a short time while crews worked on the fire.

As a city council member in the late 70’s and early 80’s and a city employee for 24 years I have heard a lot of misinformation disseminated through “coffee shop” talk and later social media. It has always concerned me to hear incorrect information passed along by people who don’t bother to ask for the facts, when they are readily available. Right now I am hearing of things being said about the Deer Park School levy, particularly the need for a new bus barn, that are troubling.
