Announcement

Command of the Ford Corkscrew Fire was transferred to a Type 4 Organization with Incident Commander, Charles Davis, at 6pm on August 29th. Previous phone lines have been taken off-line at this time. Please use (509) 685-6900 for all future inquiries. Until a season-ending event such as wetting rain or snow, warm, sunny days will cause unburned islands of fuel to flame up, and smoke may be visible. Please do not report these smoke plumes unless they are close to the fire line.

Overview

The Ford Corkscrew Fire showed moderate fire behavior on August 28th, primarily through interior unburned islands on the east side of the fire. Observations of torching and spotting occurred in short duration, and smoke was present.

All evacuation levels have been lifted as of 7am, August 30th. However, they urge everyone to use caution in the fire area and know that they are entering the area at their own risk. If people don’t live in or have business in these areas, please stay away.

The Incident Management Team wants to remind people that there is a windy day in store, and that burnt-out trees may fall without notice.

If people have property damage from this fire, please reach out to Stevens County Emergency Management at:

People need to leave the following information:

  • Name
  • Address of Damage
  • Phone and/or Email.

An agency representative will contact you as soon as possible.
