Tiaras and Ice Cream

Settlers Days’ 100th year celebration has officially begun! What a sweet beginning it was for families, friends, along with a few four-legged residents. They gathered at Mix Park on June 22nd to enjoy a good old-fashioned American tradition, the ice cream social.  Maybe not entirely traditional, as Deer Park residents were served chilly summertime treats by Princesses in silk sashes wearing diamond-studded tiaras.  Miss Deer Park 2020 Princesses Janessa Sexton and Isabella Sedano assisted incoming royalty, Miss Deer Park 2021 Kaity Wacker and Princess Xandria Moss by handing out hundreds of ice cream treats. As the laughter of playing children filled the air, chattering adults caught up with old acquaintances and welcomed newcomers to the area while violinist Christopher Anderson entertained the appreciative audience with his musical abilities. As more events for Settlers Day continue throughout the weekend, Deer Park residents will be able to enjoy the rich history that makes Deer Park what it is today.
