Second Suspect Identified and Arrested

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies identified and located a second suspect involved in the fight where a pistol was brandished and fired on May 31st, 2021, at Swinyard Park in Deer Park.  

The suspect, 19-year-old Dylan J. Smith was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail. 

Deputy Horton, who responded to the scene and took the initial report last Monday night, contacted and interviewed Smith on June 2nd. Deputy Horton learned Smith had been identified as a suspect from Deputy Ennis, who is also assisting with the investigation. Based on the interview of Smith, in addition to information learned during the ongoing investigation, Deputy Horton developed probable cause to arrest Smith for his involvement during the fight.   

Smith was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. 

The first suspect arrested, 23-year-old Greygory C. Wilson, remains in jail charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Degree, Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Criminal Mischief, and Assault 4th Degree.  

This remains an active investigation, and no further information is available at this time.

MILLER,  passed away at home on Jan 14, 2026.  Fred was born in Spokane WA, on April 4,1944.   He grew up in Spokane attending Central Valley High School until his senior year, graduating from Deer Park High School in 1962.  Fred enlisted in the Navy out of high school, spending time in San Diego and Annapolis. He later graduated from WSU with distinction.

Shirley McRae Passes Away at 91

Shirley Eleanor (Kintschi) McRae, 91, of Spokane and formerly Deer Park, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born to Morris Kintschi and Anna (Tanner) Kintschi on April 29, 1934, in Edwall, Washington. She graduated from Edwall High School in 1952, where she met her husband-to-be, John McRae. John and Shirley were married in 1954, and they lived in Redondo Beach, California, while John served in the U.S. Navy. They returned to Spokane in 1955, living on Five Mile Prairie, then at Dartford, and finally in the house that John designed and built in Deer Park in 1976, where the family lived for over 42 years.
