20th Annual Blitz Build 2021

Habitat for Humanity-Spokane’s will be holding their 20th annual Blitz Build event at Deer Park’s Hope Meadows this week.

Habitat for Humanity-Spokane’s 20th annual Blitz Build kicks off Monday, June 7th, at 8am out in Deer Park at their Hope Meadows development.

On average, approximately 1000 supporters throughout the community come together in support of Blitz Build each year. Volunteers, sponsorship groups, businesses, and community leaders who are willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity-Spokane and support affordable homeownership work side-by-side with current and future Habitat homeowners to build decent, affordable homes for families in need.

“Blitz Build is an exciting time for Habitat-Spokane and the families who partner with us,” said Michelle Girardot, CEO for Habitat for Humanity-Spokane. “Nearly 2 of 5 households in Spokane are considered “cost-burdened,” and are spending more than 30% of their income on housing costs – Habitat is a beacon of hope for those hoping to own a home they can afford in Spokane.”

Volunteer Or Donate

In celebration of their 20th Blitz Build, Habitat-Spokane is asking for $20 donations to help them build MORE affordable houses in the years to come. Donations can be made online at Habitat-spokane.org/blitz-build-21 or sent to Habitat for Humanity-Spokane: PO Box 4130 – Spokane, WA 99220

Blitz Build is Habitat’s most visible volunteering event and spots fill up fast, but Habitat also needs volunteers year-round at the job site, and at the Habitat Store (no experience necessary!). Sign up to volunteer at:  Habitat-spokane.org/volunteer-opportunities

Sponsorship for Blitz Build’s 20th annual event is generously provided by: Washington Trust Bank, Spokane Hardware Supply, Banner Bank, Reliance, SRM Development, CRH Americas Materials Northwest, and US Bank.

About Habitat For Humanity

While Habitat-Spokane does build homes year-round, Blitz Build is an accelerated construction effort. For Habitat, it’s also an opportunity to raise more awareness of the affordable housing crisis our community faces and show how Habitat is a direct solution.

Over the last 34 years, Habitat-Spokane’s Homeownership Program has provided a viable solution to affordable homeownership – and they have plans to build even more in the months and years to come.

Families who partner with Habitat complete 250 hours of sweat equity, building their own homes and the homes of their future neighbors. They purchase their home and pay an affordable mortgage no more than 30% of their income. Each family invests in creating better outcomes for themselves through the stability that owning a home offers.
