In a New Years’ message from Deer Park School Superintendent Travis Hanson, he expressed thanks and appreciation for the hard teamwork by parents/guardians, students, and staff in maintaining COVID guidelines. He also noted Deer Park is in the 15% of WA state schools who currently have access to in-person learning.
Deer Park schools initially opened on September 2, the first week being spent with parents conferencing with them to introduce the new schedules and technologies students would be using. On September 8, non-remote students formally returned to their in-person classroom instruction. There have been zero cases of in-school transmission among students, and Hanson credits all who have followed the guidelines set forth by the Health department.
The superintendent reminded the district, “We must remain vigilant and committed to staying the course in the months ahead.” He asked if any student over the holiday break has tested positive, or has had contact with someone who has tested positive, to please contact Jill Christiansen at 509-464-5509 before returning to school.
