Deer Park Library continues to have its brick-and-mortar building closed due to an equipment failure. They are no longer giving an estimated reopening date. The library has limited services open at this time, even if the doors are not.

Marion Mildred “Babe” Banks Sulgrove

Marion Mildred “Babe” Banks Sulgrove passed away on August 10, 2022, at the Prosser Memorial Hospital in Prosser, Washington. Babe was 83 years old and passed away just one month after her beloved husband, Emmett, had passed. Marion had experienced a sudden stroke that took her quickly, however, we as a family, believe that she passed away from a broken heart, as she and Emmett had been married for 64 years. Life just wasn’t the same without him.

Emmett Lee Sulgrove

Emmett Lee Sulgrove passed away on July 9, 2022, in Richland, Washington at the age of 88 years old. He was born in Clayton, New Mexico, November 24, 1933. Emmett and his family moved out west in 1942 and chose to plant their roots in Springdale, Washington.  It was there that Emmett married his bride, Marion “Babe” Banks. Together, they raised their family, and were married for 64 years.

Construction Starts Monday On Loon Lake Roundabout

Update: WSDOT has announced that due to labor issues the roundabout portion of the project will not start until September. The repaving portion of the project is still schedule to start August 15th. 

The project for the intersection of Highway 395 and State Route 292/Gardenspot Road in Loon Lake starts next week. Travelers will deal with four different stages of detours for the first 15 days of the project.

Deer Park School District has announced an after-school programs at Deer Park Elementary and Arcadia Elementary to start in the first week of October. In addition, they will be holding a virtual meeting for individuals interested in more information next week.

Shutdown: Deer Park Library

After the air conditioning system failed at the Deer Park Library, they closed early on August 2nd. They were going to reopen on Monday, August 8th; however, they have extended that to August 15th, and this date is subject to change. Currently, the Spokane County Library District (SCLD) has called the Mobile Service department in the form of LINC to fill in for the services provided by the brick-and-mortar locations, but in a limited capacity.
