Rotary Club Getting Involved in Your Community

The Rotary Club of Deer Park is always looking for new members as an international program created to unite and benefit individuals worldwide with the slogan “Service Above Self.”

Rotary International prides itself on the work of service for a cause, and the Rotary Club of Deer Park is no exception. Deer Park Rotary, along with other Rotarian Clubs around the nation, adhere all their members with the foundational guiding principles including the 4-Way Test;

“Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The above test is a simple philosophical explanation of how all clubs are run and operated worldwide. Translated into over a hundred languages, the 4-Way Test shows the true gratitude and pureness of each Rotarian member.

The Rotary Club of Deer Park equally prides itself on this 4-Way Test through fundraisers, local events, and service projects. They fund service projects and scholarships to high school students involved in their community through fundraising. One of their previous big service projects for the community was getting newer playground equipment at Mix Park. In addition, they volunteer for crowd control at Settler’s Day, donate to local food banks, and maintain their little libraries. Over the years, students and adults alike have come together to serve other communities. For example, Latacunga, Ecuador, was given two water purification units gifted through Springdale/Deer Park’s Interact Club (a high school version of Rotary). They work with Deer Park, Riverside, and Marywalker school districts to acknowledge students for their work in the community and provide scholarships to those they can.

With all that Deer Park’s Rotary provides, the club is always looking for more volunteers and members to join their club. Being a part of Rotary International offers service hours, a sense of community, and the opportunity to be a part of something “bigger than yourself.”
