Pumpkin Lane 2021

We are fortunate to live in a community where people work together, support each other, and create fantastic events. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Deer Park’s daylight trick-or-treating event, Pumpkin Lane. Leslie Stansbury and Sandra Coleman started the annual event to help keep children safe while out trick-or-treating. The event changed hands and was run by the Deer Park PTO for a few years, and then Danielle and Isaiah Prosser took on the task of keeping Pumpkin Lane alive for the past four years

Volunteers Desperately Needed

Winterfest and Settlers Day need volunteers to continue their annual events.  Both groups are revving up for the upcoming 2022 year; however, the lack of new volunteers and the retiring of past leaders leaves these events struggling and at-risk right now.

Rotary Students of the Month September 2021

The Deer Park Rotary Club members were thrilled to have their first in-person Student of the Month program in 15 months on September 16, 2021.

Last school year, students could join the club’s meetings via ZOOM; however, having the students and family members present for lunch at First Street Bar and Grill was a welcome change.

Libraries Snack Program Changes

Deer Park Library has been offering snacks to kids using a federal grant for many years now.  During the pandemic, they received an exemption so that families could pick up snacks without following the standard participation requirements.

Libraries Expanding Services In October

Spokane County Libraries announced they are increasing the number of hours and days they are open to the public. Starting on Sunday, October 3rd, the Deer Park library will be open on Sundays from 1-5pm. They will also be expanding their hours on Monday through Wednesday by two hours (making their hours 10-8 Monday-Wednesday)
