Volunteers Desperately Needed

Winterfest and Settlers Day need volunteers to continue their annual events.  Both groups are revving up for the upcoming 2022 year; however, the lack of new volunteers and the retiring of past leaders leaves these events struggling and at-risk right now.

We all love the community events that Deer Park does well: Settlers Day, Winterfest, the Deer Park Yard Sale, and Roundabout 5k. None of those events are for-profit; however, they all have the potential to boost our local economy and community spirit.

Because of insufficient volunteers, many of the Deer Park community events have either struggled, been canceled, or shortened. Sadly, a lack of vital workers and helpers is slowly killing these remarkable events.

We all have different talents and abilities, and sometimes the contributions we can make are just the thing needed by small organizations and leaders trying to run a whole event on their own. There is a common phrase that states: “many hands make light work.” We challenge you to make contact with event organizers and find out what is needed. You won’t know what you can do until you ask.

What event are you most looking forward to this year? Will you be volunteering?
