The Deer Park Library has officially reopened and returned to regular operating hours. The building had been closed since August 2nd due to an air conditioning equipment failure.

Property owners outside of Deer Park have requested the city annex their land into the city limits. Architects have been selected to determine what can be done about the city hall building. Cannabis, law enforcement, and the library park were also topics of discussion.

Paving remains on schedule for the 12 miles on Highway 395 in Stevens County between Loon Lake and Hafer Road for completion in October, the start date for roundabout construction will be delayed. An anticipated start date for the State Route 292 and Garden Spot Road detours will be Monday, September 19th. Roundabout construction and detours will still last about two weeks once construction begins.

On Thursday, August 18, 2022, Janice Lou Purdy, a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at Hospice House South in Spokane Washington. She was 81 years young. Janice was born to Charley W. and Vera E. Bale on January 16, 1941, in Wapato Washington.

Limited numbers of voters received a survey from the city regarding law enforcement in Deer Park, Washington. Six questions mainly cover primary concerns and preferred options.

Many birds live in the United States of America (USA), and we chose the bald eagle to be the national bird. I know it is not the right bird. Many other birds would be better than the bald eagle, like a different bird of prey, or a bird rejected before, maybe even a bird that is small and famous. The bald eagle is the wrong choice for our great land.

Deer Park Library continues to have its brick-and-mortar building closed due to an equipment failure. They are no longer giving an estimated reopening date. The library has limited services open at this time, even if the doors are not.

First, a petition for annexation has been submitted to the city for a new housing development. Secondly, the council will be considering banning marijuana-related businesses. Last was regarding preservation costs for city hall and roads that are higher than expected.
